10Y at 5.31% Is Killing Risk — Health Is the Only Pocket Working

The morning was a slow bleed across almost every sector. Yields are the story, industrials are getting crushed, and the tape character has shifted defensive into midday.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

Morning opened soft and never recovered. The 10Y yield pushing 5.311% is the gravitational pull on everything today — that level is not noise, it's a regime signal, and the market is repricing accordingly.

On my radar
  • TRIB $7.15 — RVOL 5.9x, float 13.5M. Clean low-float mover but 5.9x RVOL isn't enough to chase at this extension. I want a pullback to $6.50–$6.60 and consolidation before I touch it.
  • OFS $4.16 — RVOL 10.1x, float 13.4M. This is the one I'm watching hardest for power hour. If it holds $3.90 into 2:30pm and volume stays elevated, that's my long trigger with a stop under $3.75.
  • HTZ $2.06 — Float at 315.8M kills the squeeze potential. RVOL 3.5x on a name this size is just noise. Passing entirely.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,750 is the line I don't want to see broken into close — below that opens the door to $7,700 fast with this yield backdrop.
  • Gold $4,100 is the next support after today's flush. Dollar ripping +0.50% and yields climbing is a toxic combo for bullion short-term.
  • Industrials down 2.15% is the loudest sector signal of the day — that sector leads economic expectations, and right now it's screaming caution.
How I'm positioned

I trimmed my gold position by 20% this morning when it cracked $4,150 — didn't love doing it but the DXY + yield squeeze isn't over. Still holding my core. BTC down 2.62% while Crypto Fear & Greed sits at 71 (Greed) — that divergence is a red flag and I'm not adding crypto here. Health is the only sector green and I'm not chasing defensive rotations mid-session. For power hour, I'm watching OFS for that $3.90 hold. If SPX can stabilize above $7,760, I'll take a small long scalp there. Otherwise I stay flat and let the tape prove itself.
