Tech Craters 3%, Gold Rips — Rotation Is the Story Today
SPX is sliding into the open with tech leading the damage. Gold and health are the only places the money is going — and my positioning reflects that.

Live tape — what this brief is about
Tech is getting hit hard overnight — down nearly 3% — while gold, silver, and health are catching real bids. This isn't random noise. The 10Y yield is at 5.056% and the DXY is softening, which tells me rate-sensitive growth names are getting repriced in real time. Fear & Greed sitting at 30 (Fear) means we're not at capitulation yet, but we're close enough that I'm not adding aggressively to shorts.
On my radar
- MXCT $1.25 — RVOL 42.0x, float 107.1M, catalyst-driven. This is a pre-market runner. I want to see it open, spike, and then pull back to consolidate above $1.10 before I consider a long. Chasing a 42x RVOL name at the open is how you get chopped up.
- SKYD $7.06 — RVOL 2.7x is light for a short setup, but -23.84% with a catalyst means the story is broken. Dead cat bounce is the play — I'd short any rip back to $7.50–$7.70 with a stop above $8.00.
- MMED $16.81 — RVOL 4.0x, catalyst-driven, -8.64%. Cleaner short setup than SKYD. Watching for a bounce to $17.40 to fade it back toward $15.80.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,650 is the first real line — a break there opens the door to $7,580 fast given the tech-led selling.
- Gold $4,163 holding is bullish continuation; I want to see it clear $4,200 intraday for confirmation.
- 10Y Yield 5.10% — if it creeps back above that, tech gets another leg down and I'll short QQQ.
How I'm positioned
I'm long gold through physical and a GLD position sized at 8% of portfolio — not trimming above $4,163, targeting $4,250 next. Silver is tagging along and I'm holding that too. BTC at $80,468 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 53 (Neutral) tells me crypto isn't confirming the risk-off move yet — I'm holding my BTC core but not adding. Day trade risk is cut to 50% of normal size until SPX shows me whether $7,650 holds. Economic data today could be the swing factor — if CPI or jobless claims print hot, that 10Y yield spikes and tech gets another flush. I'll be watching the open and waiting for MXCT to give me a clean entry setup rather than chasing it.
