Gold and Health Leading — Tech and Energy Getting Sold Hard

The morning tape chopped SPX flat while gold ripped 1.5% and health care screamed higher. Power hour setup is rotation-driven, not momentum-driven.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

Morning session was a rotation story, not a trend day. SPX is basically unchanged while gold, silver, materials, and health care are doing the heavy lifting — and tech plus energy are getting quietly dumped. That's a risk-off-with-nuance tape, and it changes how I approach power hour.

On my radar
  • OPK $1.55 — RVOL 16.7x, float 746M. That float kills the squeeze potential but 13% on catalyst with that RVOL is worth watching. I want a pullback to $1.42–$1.45 and a clean hold before I touch it. No chase on a name this size.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,730 is the pivot — we're sitting right on it. A push through $7,760 into the close signals buyers stepping in; failure here and I expect a fade toward $7,680.
  • Gold $4,170 is trending and I want to see it hold $4,140 on any afternoon dip — that level confirms the breakout.
  • 10Y yield at 5.095% dropping nearly 2% today is the reason finance and REITs are green. Watch this — if yields reverse late session, that rotation unwinds fast.
  • DXY 102.13 weakening is fueling the metals move. This is the engine right now.
How I'm positioned

Fear & Greed sitting at 31 (Fear) while SPX is barely red — that's a divergence I respect. Market internals aren't as bad as sentiment suggests, which makes me reluctant to short into power hour. My gold position is working and I'm holding it with a stop below $4,140. I'm not touching tech longs until that sector shows me something — down 1.16% midday with no bounce attempt is a red flag. Scanner came up dry on anything clean enough to trade. For power hour, I'm watching OPK for a controlled pullback entry and keeping my eye on whether health care holds its gains into the close. No new day trades until I see SPX make a decisive move off $7,730.
