SPX Flatlines While Energy Rips and Health Care Gets Demolished
S&P closed essentially flat but the rotation underneath was violent. Energy up nearly 2%, Health down over 1% — this wasn't a quiet day, it just looked like one on the index.

Live tape — what this brief is about
SPX printed +0.01% today. That number is a lie. Under the hood this session was a full-blown rotation day — energy ripping, health care getting hammered, tech slipping. The index masked a lot of pain and a lot of opportunity depending on where you were sitting.
On my radar
- BMBL $5.95 — +56.58%, RVOL 19.2x, float 151.6M. This was the move of the day. Whatever the catalyst was, it printed a clean squeeze. If it consolidates and holds above $5.50 into tomorrow open I'll be watching for a continuation setup on the first pullback.
- CIFR $11.34 — down 12.81%, RVOL 3.7x. Crypto miner selling off while BTC gains ground. That's a disconnect I want to short into any dead-cat bounce toward $12.10.
- FUN $9.99 — down 16.15%, RVOL 2.0x. Ugly tape, catalyst-driven. Sitting right at $10 psychological. If it can't reclaim $10.50 tomorrow it's heading lower.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,808 held but barely — I need to see it clear $7,850 with conviction or this chop continues.
- Gold $4,188 — basically flat, holding fine. $4,150 is my line for trimming.
- Crude $94.46 breaking above $95 would confirm the energy trade has more legs. Natural gas up 4.83% today is not noise.
- 10Y yield at 5.217% is the number nobody's talking about loudly enough. That level crushes rate-sensitive sectors. REIT and Finance weakness today makes sense.
How I'm positioned
Energy was my bright spot today — that's the one sector call I had right coming in. Gold held its weight, no action needed. My BTC position is sitting nicely with crypto Fear & Greed at 57 (Greed) — not euphoric, still room to run, but I'm not adding here.
I missed BMBL completely. Scanner flagged it, I didn't pull the trigger on open because the float at 151M felt too heavy for a clean squeeze. Wrong. That's a rep I'm logging — high RVOL on a genuine catalyst overrides float concerns on the first push.
Tomorrow I'm watching BMBL at the open for a flag setup above $5.50, and I'm keeping crude on a short leash — if energy gaps up again I'm trimming a third of my position into strength rather than letting the 10Y choke it out.
