Utilities Lead, Scanner Quiet — Power Hour Sets Up Around SPX $7,839
Morning tape ran broad and steady with utilities and industrials leading. Scanner came up empty on qualified setups, but a few names are worth watching into the close.

Live tape — what this brief is about
Morning played out cleaner than I expected — broad participation, no single sector hog-tying the rally, and SPX grinding higher without the usual tech-or-bust dynamic. Utilities up +2.40% with a 10Y yield dropping -0.96% to 5.260% is the story of the session. That's a real rotation signal, not noise.
On my radar
- PAGS $10.95 — RVOL 5.7x, float 279.5M, catalyst-backed. Up +21.40% but the float is too big for me to chase. Watching for a consolidation under $11.50 — if it builds a flag and reclaims that level with volume into power hour, I'll look at a small position.
- PICS $11.62 — RVOL 4.0x, float 129.6M, up +27.83%. Cleaner float story. My line is $11.00 — if it holds and volume stays elevated heading into 2pm, I'll watch for a breakout continuation above $12.00.
- CWH $4.55 — RVOL 4.2x, down -9.54%. Short setups on weak tape days are more reliable; today's tape isn't weak. Passing unless it bounces into $4.80 and rolls over.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,839 is the current level — I need a hold above $7,800 through power hour or this starts looking like an intraday fade setup.
- Gold $4,197 with DXY at 101.798 and falling — gold is doing exactly what it should. $4,150 is my stop on the long thesis.
- 10Y at 5.260% is the pivot — if it reverses and climbs back above 5.30%, utilities reverse hard and today's rotation story dies.
How I'm positioned
Scanner threw up zero qualified setups out of 418 tickers scanned — that tells me the tape is range-trading beneath the surface even if the index looks clean. I'm not forcing day trades today. Holding my gold position with a stop at $4,150, no additions needed at these levels. BTC flat at $85,739 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 73 (Greed) — I'm not adding crypto exposure here, that index reading makes me cautious on new entries. Into the last hour, I'm watching whether SPX holds $7,800 — if it does, I'll carry positions overnight. If it cracks, I trim before the bell.
