10Y at 5.1%, Financials Leading, Gold Breaking Out Pre-Market

SPX is grinding higher but the 10Y yield hitting 5.1% is the real story. Gold pushing $4,200 and sector rotation is doing the heavy lifting today.

Mario's take

SPX is up fractionally overnight but the market is telling a split story — Financials, Health, and Materials are ripping while Tech drags and Energy gets dumped. With the 10Y yield at 5.106%, the rotation out of duration-sensitive growth and into value/defensives makes complete sense, and I think it continues through the session.

On my radar
  • OPK $1.61 — RVOL 30.8x, float 746.3M. The float is massive so I'm not chasing hard, but 30.8x RVOL with a catalyst tag demands attention. I want to see it hold $1.50 on any open fade and build a 15-minute base before I touch it. Entry only on a clean reclaim of $1.65.
  • AVD $1.25 — tighter float at 28.6M, RVOL 7.1x, pure momentum name. This is the more tradeable setup. $1.18 is my stop, and I'm interested on any pullback that holds the VWAP.
  • RGC $9.52 — RVOL 6.5x, float 495.5M, catalyst-backed. Too heavy a float for a clean runner but worth a scalp if it breaks $9.75 with volume.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,700 is the floor I'm defending — below that and the sector rotation story breaks down fast, likely flushing to $7,640.
  • Gold $4,200 is the line. We're knocking on it pre-market. A clean close above $4,200 today sets up a run toward $4,250 and I'm holding every ounce.
  • 10Y Yield 5.25% — if we push there, Tech gets hit harder and Financials keep running. Watching XLF.
How I'm positioned

Fear & Greed sitting at 32 (Fear) while SPX is making new highs is a divergence I respect — it means sentiment hasn't confirmed the move, which historically is bullish, not bearish. I'm holding my gold position through any intraday dip to $4,160 and adding on a confirmed daily close above $4,200. Silver's 1.4% move overnight supports the thesis — both metals are acting right. BTC at $81,931 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 63 is neutral; I'm not adding there today. Day trade sizing goes to 75% of normal risk given the split tape. My first action at the open is watching AVD's first five-minute candle — that's the trade I'm most likely to take.
