Gold Gets Crushed, Financials Bleed, and the Tape Tells a Story

Gold dropped nearly 4% on a 5.24% 10Y yield and a rising dollar — my bullion position took heat today. Recapping what ran, what didn't, and what I'm setting up for tomorrow.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

Rough session. The 10Y yield closing at 5.24% with DXY pushing higher was a wrecking ball for everything rate-sensitive, and gold didn't survive it. I was wrong to expect metals to hold their range today — that's a clean miss.

On my radar
  • LFCR $6.52 — RVOL 29.5x, float 37.5M, catalyst-driven 55% mover. If it's still holding above $6.00 in pre-market with volume, I'm watching the first 15-minute range for a long trigger.
  • MX $3.81 — RVOL 3.3x, float 36.5M, momentum off a catalyst. Smaller move, cleaner float. $3.60 is my line — below that the setup is dead.
  • AUR $5.29 — down 12% with only RVOL 1.2x. Low conviction short. Not touching it unless volume confirms overnight.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,600 is the line I'm watching overnight — we closed at $7,683 and a gap-down through that level tomorrow opens a move toward $7,520.
  • Gold $4,100 is the next support. A 10Y at 5.24% plus a strong dollar means I'm not adding until we see stabilization.
  • Crude $92.74 held green today — only sector that did anything positive was energy. That divergence is worth noting.
How I'm positioned

Gold is down hard and I'm sitting on unrealized pain. I'm not panic-selling — my thesis is still intact at the macro level — but I've tightened my mental stop to $4,050. Below that and I trim 30% of the position.

BTC dropping 1.3% while Crypto Fear & Greed sits at 74 (Greed) is a red flag. Those two things shouldn't coexist. I'm not adding crypto here.

Scanner threw up zero qualified names out of 342 tickers scanned. That's the tape telling me something — no clean setups, no forced trades. LFCR is the only name I'm building a watchlist around for tomorrow. Day-trade sizing stays at half until SPX shows me direction off $7,600.
