SPX futures up 0.41% but Fear & Greed sits at 22 (Extreme Fear). Crude breaking $100 and a split tape demand precision today.

Live tape — what this brief is about
SPX is flirting with $7,690 pre-market while the Fear & Greed Index flashes Extreme Fear at 22 — that divergence is the story this morning. Consumer and Tech are carrying the tape, everything else is getting sold.
On my radar
- CLF $14.10 — RVOL 4.5x, float 570.5M, catalyst-driven +16.34% overnight. Float is too heavy for a clean squeeze but the catalyst has legs. Watching for a flag above $13.80 before any long entry; stops tight under $13.50.
- GLAS $2.46 — RVOL 7.7x, down 22.88% on a catalyst. This is my top short watch. A dead-cat bounce into $2.65–$2.75 is my entry zone; target $2.10, stop above $2.90.
- DH $1.10 — RVOL 7.0x, float 143.8M, pure momentum. Only actionable if it holds $1.05 on the open and builds a base. Half-size given the sub-$2 price action.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,650 is the line — below that and the Extreme Fear reading starts to win; next support at $7,580.
- Crude $100.00 is the psychological level — WTI at $99.67 is a hair away. A clean break above $100 puts pressure on Consumer discretionary margins fast.
- Gold $4,100 is my floor for my bullion thesis — holding above it today means I stay long. A close below flips me cautious short-term.
- 10Y Yield 5.10% — we're sitting right on it at 5.098%. A move through here pressures REIT and Utilities further; both already ugly this morning.
How I'm positioned
I'm holding my gold position with a stop at $4,095 — not adding today with the overnight dip. BTC at $81,501 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 55 (Greed) feels disconnected from the equity tape; I'm not chasing it. Day trade size is at 60% normal risk until SPX confirms a direction off $7,650. On the open, I'm watching GLAS for the dead-cat setup and will let CLF show me a flag before touching it. No trades in Energy or Utilities — that sector rot is not a one-day story.
