Tech Carries the Tape Into Power Hour

SPX +0.78% but the internals are splitting fast — tech and consumer leading while rates crush utilities and REITs.

Mario's take

Morning came in cleaner than the Fear & Greed reading of 28 had any right to suggest. Tech ripped +2.20% and consumer discretionary tagged along at +1.68%, but that's where the good news stops — the 10Y at 5.136% is bleeding out rate-sensitive sectors in real time.

On my radar
  • CLF $14.01 — up +15.55%, RVOL 1.8x, float 570.5M. Catalyst-driven move. Too big a float for a clean squeeze, but if it holds $13.50 into power hour I'll take a starter.
  • DH $1.13 — RVOL 3.5x, 200 SMA bounce on a 143.8M float. Small name, clean technical setup. Want a consolidation above $1.08 before I touch it.
  • GLAS $2.25 — down -29.62%, RVOL 5.5x. This is the short side setup of the day. Any dead-cat bounce into $2.50–$2.60 is a gift. Catalyst-driven flush with that kind of RVOL doesn't recover same day.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,700 is the line I'm defending — a close below that and I expect follow-through selling toward $7,640 by tomorrow.
  • Gold $4,161 pulling back with the dollar ticking up on DXY 101.98 — not alarmed yet, but $4,100 is where my bullion thesis gets stress-tested.
  • Crude $97.99 down over -1% while energy equities only dropped -0.59% — that divergence closes, and I think it closes down on the equity side.
How I'm positioned

I flipped out of my GLAS short starter from this morning at $2.30 for a quick scalp and I'm looking to re-enter any bounce to the $2.50 area in the last hour. Holding my SPX index position long with a mental stop on a close under $7,700. Gold I'm leaving alone — short-term noise, long-term I'm not moving. BTC at $81,857 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 59 while stock Fear & Greed sits at 28 is an interesting divergence I'm watching but not trading yet. Into the close I'm focused on re-shorting GLAS on any pop and trimming half my SPX position if we can't reclaim $7,740 by 3:30 ET.
