SPX Holds $7,690 But Rate Pain Is Real
Tech and Consumer carried the tape while Utilities and Financials got crushed. The 10Y at 5.136% is the story nobody wants to talk about.

Live tape — what this brief is about
Tech and Consumer saved the session — everything else got hit with the rate stick. SPX closed at $7,690.81 (+0.41%) but that green number is hiding a lot of damage underneath. Utilities down -1.93%, REITs down -1.16%, Financials down -0.81% — that's the 10Y yield at 5.136% doing exactly what it does. And with the Stock Market Fear & Greed at 25 (Fear), this rally is built on a narrow foundation.
On my radar
- CLF $14.13 — up +16.54%, RVOL 2.1x, float 570M. Catalyst-driven move with real volume behind it. If it can consolidate above $13.50 overnight I'm watching for continuation into the open tomorrow.
- DH $1.14 — RVOL 3.9x, 200 SMA bounce, float 143.8M. Low-dollar momentum. $1.05 is my line — anything above that and this is still alive.
- GLAS $2.30 — down -27.90%, RVOL 6.1x. Catalyst-driven flush. Watching for a dead-cat setup tomorrow if it opens flat near $2.20–$2.30.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,650 is the number I'm anchored to — a close below that opens the door to $7,580 fast.
- 10Y Yield 5.15% — if we push through that level tomorrow morning, Utilities and REITs see another leg down and I'll be adding to my short there.
- Gold $4,140 — today's dip to close at $4,163 is noise, but a break below $4,140 would make me trim my bullion position meaningfully.
How I'm positioned
Today was a B-minus day. I was right on sector rotation — wrong on holding any energy exposure into the crude selloff. Natural Gas down -5.78% was a gut punch I didn't fully respect pre-market. I'm trimming that today and moving on.
BTC at $81,743 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 59 (Greed) is a strange divergence from equities sentiment — I'm holding my core position but not adding. Gold I'm holding through the noise, stop at $4,100. Tomorrow morning I'm watching the CLF open closely — if it gaps up clean with volume, I'm in for a scalp.
