SPX Flatlines at $7,671 While Rates and Financials Bleed Out

S&P 500 printed basically unchanged but the internals were ugly — Financials, Health, and Industrials all down nearly 1%. The 10Y yield at 5.293% is doing real damage under the surface.

Mario's take

Quarter-end and the tape lied to you if you only looked at SPX. Flat on the index, but the internals were a mess — Financials down 0.93%, Health down 1.06%, Industrials off 0.98%. The only green that mattered was Tech at +0.96%, and that's a narrow carry. I'd call today a C- for the bull case.

On my radar
  • TGE $1.44 — RVOL 6,810x on a 48.5M float with a hard catalyst. This thing printed +73.49% today. I didn't catch the open, but if it holds above $1.20 overnight and runs pre-market, I'll size into the first clean pullback tomorrow.
  • BHV $11.75 — 1.6M float bouncing off the 200 SMA with RVOL 1.8x. Small float means this can squeeze fast. My trigger is a hold above $11.50 at open.
  • GLAS $5.77 — down 15% on RVOL 1.9x and no clean base. Short setup if it pops into $6.10–$6.25 and stalls.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,671 is holding but it's a ceiling, not a floor — I need to see it clear $7,720 to feel bullish into Q4.
  • 10Y yield at 5.293% is the real story. Every tick higher here pressures REITs, Financials, and rate-sensitive growth. Watch 5.35% as the line that breaks confidence.
  • Gold $4,184 is holding its trend. $4,150 is my stop-loss level on my bullion position — haven't touched it yet.
How I'm positioned

Gold is fine, sitting on unrealized gains, stop at $4,150. Bitcoin at $83,489 is dead money right now — Crypto Fear & Greed at 71 while price goes nowhere tells me the crowd is too comfortable. I trimmed 15% of my BTC position into today's close. Stock market Fear & Greed at 33 (Fear) while Tech rips is a divergence I respect — it keeps me from going full short on SPX. Tomorrow I'm watching TGE at the open for a momentum continuation entry, and I will not chase anything above a 20% gap from today's close.
