SPX Pushes $7,657 But Gold Is Cracking — Here's My Line
Crude ripping +4.5%, gold dumping -2%, and the scanner is lighting up with a 44% gapper at the open. Fear & Greed at 33 while SPX climbs — that divergence doesn't last long.
Live tape — what this brief is about
SPX is pushing highs at $7,657 overnight but the Fear & Greed Index sitting at 33 (Fear) while the tape grinds higher is a setup I don't ignore — that's distribution behavior until proven otherwise. Gold getting hammered -2.06% to $4,318 while crude rockets +4.51% to $104.56 is the macro story this morning, and it's reshaping how I'm sizing into precious metals today.
On my radar
- ACVA $10.41 — RVOL 24.3x, float 174.6M, up 44% pre-market. Too wide a float to chase at the open — I'm waiting for a 15-min flag to form above $9.80 before I touch it. Trigger is a reclaim of $10.00 on volume.
- CRMT $1.90 — RVOL 5.1x, float 8.3M. This is the cleaner setup. Low float, meaningful RVOL, +19.5% move. Want to see it hold $1.75 and consolidate. Entry on a break above $2.00 with a stop at $1.68.
- ZUMZ $14.55 — short side, RVOL 5.7x, float 16.9M, down -12.93%. Any dead-cat bounce into $15.20–$15.50 is a short opportunity back toward $13.80.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,600 is the line I'm defending — a close below that flips my intraday bias to cautious and I expect a flush to $7,540.
- Gold $4,280 is the next support — if it breaks on volume today I'm trimming my bullion position, not adding.
- Crude $106 is the next resistance — energy equities aren't keeping pace with the commodity move, which tells me this crude spike is more fear-driven than demand-driven.
- 10Y at 4.973% is creeping toward 5% and that's the ceiling that's kept risk assets in check all year.
How I'm positioned
I'm long BTC from lower and holding — crypto Fear & Greed at 57 (Greed) with BTC at $77,652 keeps that position intact with a stop below $74,500. My gold position is on watch; if $4,280 breaks I'm cutting 40% of the allocation and waiting for a re-entry. Not adding here. On the day-trade side I'm sizing at 75% normal risk — Fear & Greed at 33 with a headline-driven crude spike is not the tape to be aggressive on. I'm focused on CRMT at the open for a long scalp if $1.75 holds, and I'll watch ZUMZ for the dead-cat short after 10am. No chasing ACVA until it shows me a base.
