Gold Getting Slammed, BTC Diverging, Power Hour Setups Forming
SPX is grinding lower with tech and industrials leading the pain, but COMMS and health are quietly holding the tape together. Here's what I'm watching into the close.
Live tape — what this brief is about
Morning was a mess of cross-currents — tech dumped hard (-1.50%), industrials followed, and gold is getting hit alongside silver in a way that tells me the dollar bid is real today. DXY at 99.51 with a 0.40% pop is the story nobody's talking about loudly enough. The interesting tell: BTC is up 2.27% while gold bleeds. That's a regime signal worth tracking.
On my radar
- ACVA $10.41 — RVOL 24.3x, float 174.6M, +44% on the day. Too extended to chase right now but I'm watching for a consolidation flag above $9.80. If it holds that into power hour, I'll consider a small long for a continuation push.
- CRMT $1.90 — RVOL 5.1x, float only 8.3M. This is the tightest float on the scanner today. +19.5% with room to squeeze if volume holds. My trigger is a reclaim and hold of $1.95 — below $1.78 and I'm out fast.
- ZUMZ $14.55 — RVOL 5.7x, float 16.9M, down nearly 13%. Short setup if it dead-cat bounces into $15.20. I want to see sellers step back in with volume before I add size.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,600 is the line I'm watching into the close — a break and hold below that opens the door to $7,555 fast.
- Gold $4,300 is now the key support. It's already lost the $4,332 level intraday and the next real floor is $4,270.
- 10Y at 4.953% pulling back slightly while the dollar rips is a weird combo — I'm not reading this as risk-on, I'm reading it as rotation noise.
How I'm positioned
Fear & Greed sitting at 31 (Fear) on equities while crypto hits 57 (Greed) — that split tells me where the speculative money is flowing and it isn't stocks. I trimmed my gold position by 20% this morning when it cracked $4,360, keeping my stop on the remainder at $4,270. BTC I'm holding with no changes — this move feels like it has legs into the week. No new index exposure today; SPX needs to prove $7,600 holds before I add anything. Into power hour I'm focused on CRMT for a potential momentum entry and ZUMZ for a short if the bounce sets up cleanly.
