Tech Carries the Tape on 9/11 — ACVA Was the Day's Real Story

SPX closed at $7,657 with tech leading and crude getting crushed. ACVA ran 44% intraday — here's how I graded the session and what I'm watching tomorrow.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

Solid session overall, but the real alpha was in a name most people weren't watching at open. SPX finished at $7,657.32 (+0.86%) with tech the clear leader at +1.38% — exactly the rotation I expected coming into today. The 10Y at 4.975% is getting uncomfortable, and gold slipping -0.47% while the dollar barely moved tells me the bond market is doing the heavy lifting on sentiment right now.

On my radar
  • ACVA $10.43 — the move of the day. +44.46%, RVOL 18.2x, float 174.6M. Catalyst-driven, not a fluke. I missed the morning entry but this is on my watchlist for any continuation setup above $10.00 tomorrow. Float is bigger than I normally trade but RVOL like that commands attention.
  • CRMT $1.97+23.90%, tiny float at 8.3M, RVOL 3.3x. This is more my wheelhouse. Watching for a morning flush and reclaim of $1.85 tomorrow — that's my trigger for a small-size long.
  • SLS $11.55-14.38% on catalyst. RVOL only 2.1x so I didn't touch the short, but if it gaps down tomorrow and fails $11.00, I'll reassess.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,600 is now the floor I'm protecting. A close below that flips my short-term bias.
  • 10Y at 5.0% is the number — we're nine basis points away and that level has spooked equities twice this year.
  • Gold $4,350 is my line for trimming my bullion position. Not there yet, but I'm watching it.
  • Crude $99 breakdown would accelerate energy sector weakness despite today's muted +0.32% print.
How I'm positioned

Fear & Greed at 34 (Fear) while SPX is pushing highs — that's a divergence I respect. It means the rally isn't crowded yet, which is actually constructive. My SPX index position is up and I'm not touching it. BTC at $77,307 is holding the range; crypto F&G at 56 is neutral-to-greedy and I'm not chasing here.

Day-trade grade today: B-. I flagged ACVA pre-market but sized down because the float made me hesitant. Left money on the table. CRMT I didn't touch at all — should have taken a small starter at the open. Discipline was good on the short side; SLS RVOL was too weak for my criteria and it would've been a chop trade.

Tomorrow I'm watching CRMT at the open for that $1.85 reclaim and keeping ACVA on the secondary scanner. If SPX opens above $7,650, I'm adding to my index position before the first hour closes.
