SPX Fades While Crude Rips 3% — Energy Leads, Financials Bleed

S&P futures are slipping into the open but crude is up 3% and energy is the only sector worth being long. Financials down 1.38% is the story nobody's talking about yet.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

SPX futures are down 0.58% pre-market and the sector map is telling a clear story: energy is the only real bid, financials are getting hit hard, and health care is in free-fall at -2.52%. The 10Y yield pushing 4.810% is the pressure point — that's what's cracking financials and making growth names nervous.

On my radar
  • SST $5.00 — up 30.55% pre-market, float just 10M shares, RVOL 3.5x. This is the kind of name that can double on a low-float squeeze. I want to see it hold $4.75 on the open and build a base. Above $5.20 with volume and I'm in for a momentum scalp.
  • NKTX $3.23RVOL 3.0x, float 71.5M. More orderly than SST. Watching $3.10 as my line — if it holds that on the open pullback, I'll take a small starter.
  • BCRX $9.06 — down 8.99% with RVOL 3.8x and a catalyst. This is a short setup I respect. Below $8.80 and I think it sees $8.40 fast. Tight stop above $9.20.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,620 is where I start paying real attention — that's the next support shelf. A close below that opens a run toward $7,570.
  • Crude $97.50 is the breakout level I'm watching — above that and energy names get a second leg.
  • 10Y Yield 4.85% — if we touch that today, financials will accelerate lower and the Fear & Greed at 39 tips toward the 20s fast.
How I'm positioned

I'm holding my gold position through this — $4,440 with a stop at $4,380, no adds until SPX finds its footing. BTC at $79,564 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 66 tells me crypto is decoupled from equities right now, and I like that. My BTC core position stays. For today I'm sizing day trades at 50% normal risk given the mixed tape — SST is my highest-conviction scalp setup at the open. If BCRX breaks $8.80 in the first 30 minutes, I'm short with a defined stop.
