COMMS Rips +3.5%, BTC Surges, But Scanner Came Up Empty
Tech and COMMS are carrying the tape into power hour while crude gets crushed -4%. BTC is up nearly 6% with crypto greed at 70 — but the small-cap scanner printed zero qualifiers this morning.
Live tape — what this brief is about
Morning session surprised to the upside — SPX pushing +1.11% and COMMS exploding +3.53% is not a fearful tape, regardless of what the Fear & Greed Index at 33 is telling you. The divergence between equity strength and sentiment is a setup I'm paying attention to heading into power hour.
On my radar
- DSP $11.88 — RVOL 6.3x, float 65.5M, catalyst-driven. Cleanest setup on the board. Want to see it hold $11.50 and compress before any add. Float is tight enough for a real move if the market doesn't roll.
- FEAM $2.50 — RVOL 3.8x, float 41.5M. Smallest float of the three longs. Watching $2.35 as my line — below that the momentum is done.
- GENI $5.64 — short side, down nearly 13% with RVOL 3.6x. If it can't reclaim $5.80 into power hour, I like the continuation lower toward $5.20.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,700 is now support — a hold above that level into the close tells me institutions aren't selling into this strength.
- Crude $90 is the next magnet after this -4% flush. Energy is the clear drag and I'm not touching XLE.
- Gold $4,350 is where I'd start getting interested on the long side again — this -0.83% dip is noise, not a trend break.
How I'm positioned
Scanner printing zero qualifiers out of 417 tickers is a signal in itself — the small-cap momentum crowd isn't getting clean setups today. I'm not forcing trades on SECZ with a 163M float; that's not my game. BTC at $85,940 with crypto Fear & Greed at 70 (Greed) is the standout move — I'm holding my BTC position and not adding here. Gold dip is on my watch list but I'm waiting for $4,350 before I scale in. Into power hour I'm watching DSP for a flag and GENI for a failed bounce — sizing half until SPX proves it can close above $7,700.
