SPX Slips, Gold Surges, and VRA Is the Only Story Pre-Market

SPX futures are soft at $7,585 with Fear & Greed at 28, but gold is ripping +1.18% to $4,384 and VRA is up 34% pre-market on 74x RVOL. Here's exactly what I'm watching at the open.

today
Mario's take

SPX is sliding into the open with the Fear & Greed Index at 28 (Fear) — that's not a buy signal yet, but it's the kind of number where I start paying attention to positioning. Gold and silver are the standouts overnight, crude is getting hit hard at -2.05%, and energy equities are somehow the best-performing sector. That divergence doesn't hold — one of them is wrong.

On my radar
  • VRA $4.09RVOL 74.2x, float 28.4M, catalyst-driven. This is the morning's headline mover. I want to see it consolidate the pre-market range and build a flag above $3.85. A clean breakout over $4.25 with volume is my trigger. Anything that spikes and immediately fades gets ignored.
  • CRT $13.07RVOL 4.5x, float only 6.0M. Tiny float means it moves fast both ways. Watching $12.75 as the line — hold that and I'm interested long on a push through $13.40.
  • ALHC $10.37 — down 19.86% on catalyst, RVOL 6.3x. Short side. Any dead-cat bounce into $10.80–$11.00 that stalls is a fade setup. Won't short into the hole.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,540 is the number I don't want to see broken — below that opens up a run to $7,490.
  • Gold $4,384 is breaking out. I'm holding through any intraday dip to $4,340, but a close below that changes my short-term bullion thesis.
  • Crude $103.66 crashing while energy equities rally tells me XLE is lagging reality — I'm staying out of the sector entirely until they sync up.
  • 10Y Yield at 4.984% is flirting with 5% again. That's the macro headwind for tech and REITs right now.
How I'm positioned

Gold and silver are the core of my bullion book and both are performing. I'm not adding here — let the move breathe. BTC at $75,860 with Crypto Fear & Greed neutral at 51 is constructive but not exciting; I'm holding my position, no new size. On the day-trade side, I'm sizing at 75% of normal given SPX is in chop with Fear at 28. VRA is my primary focus at the open — I'll watch the first 10 minutes, wait for a clean flag, and only enter on a confirmed break of $4.25. If the open is chaotic and VRA spikes without structure, I sit on my hands and wait for CRT to set up instead.
