Gold Ripping, Energy Cratering — Tape Has a Clear Winner Today

Tech is carrying the index while energy gets crushed and the scanner is thin. Here's what I'm watching into power hour.

Mario's take

Morning played out almost exactly as the sector rotation suggested it would — tech led, energy got dumped, and the broader tape stayed bid despite Fear & Greed sitting at 29 (Fear). That divergence between sentiment and price action is worth respecting, not fading.

On my radar
  • VRA $4.09RVOL 74.2x, float 28.4M, catalyst-driven. This is the mover of the day. I want to see it hold $3.80 and consolidate before any long entry — chasing 34% runners into midday is how you get chopped up.
  • CRT $13.07RVOL 4.5x, float 6.0M. Cleaner setup than VRA, smaller float. $12.50 is my line — if it pulls there and holds, I'm watching for a bounce into the close.
  • ALHC $10.37 — down nearly 20% on catalyst, RVOL 6.3x. Short setups like this are where I made money this morning. I want a dead-cat bounce toward $11.00 before I'd consider pressing the short again — not chasing it down here.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,619 is holding fine, but $7,580 is the line I'm watching on any afternoon fade — below that and power hour could get ugly fast.
  • Gold $4,398 up 1.50% is not noise. With the 10Y yield dropping to 4.959% and crude getting hammered to $102.65, the macro setup for bullion into year-end is strengthening daily.
  • Energy sector -2.10% with crude off 3% — I'm not touching XLE or any individual energy names today.
How I'm positioned

I trimmed my crude-linked position this morning when oil broke below $104 — that was the right call. Holding my gold allocation, no stops moved, targeting a test of $4,450 before end of month. BTC at $75,723 with Crypto Fear & Greed at neutral 51 — no urgency to add or reduce. Day trade sizing stays at 75% normal risk until SPX gives me a cleaner read off $7,580. Into power hour I'm watching VRA for a flag and ALHC for a dead-cat — neither is a trade yet.
