Energy Rips While Everything Else Bleeds Into Power Hour

The tape turned risk-off by midday — crude surging 3% is the only bright spot. Scanner went quiet but a handful of setups are worth watching into the close.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

Morning opened soft and it never recovered. The thesis today is simple: energy is the only sector worth being long, and everything rate-sensitive is getting punished as the 10Y pushes toward 5%.

On my radar
  • RUM $8.00RVOL 7.5x, float 399M. That float is too large for a clean squeeze but the catalyst is real. Watching $8.25 as a breakout trigger into power hour — below $7.75 and I'm done with it.
  • ALLT $8.38RVOL 7.8x, float 48.9M. This is the cleaner story. Bouncing off the 200 SMA with a tight float. Want a hold above $8.20 and a volume surge before I touch it.
  • NSLR $7.86RVOL 28.7x. That's a capitulation print. I'm watching for a dead-cat bounce fade setup around $8.10–$8.20 if it pops into close. Short bias only.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,550 is the line I'm watching into power hour — if we crack that, expect a flush toward $7,510 before any real buying shows up.
  • 10Y Yield 5.00% is the psychological threshold. We're at 4.987% right now. A close above 5% changes the conversation for financials and REITs significantly.
  • Crude $104.56 — energy is the only sector printing green. XLE is my long hedge here and I'm not fading this move.
How I'm positioned

Stock Fear & Greed sitting at 29 (Fear) while crypto Fear & Greed is at 69 (Greed) — that divergence is wild and I don't trust it. BTC dropping 2% while crypto sentiment stays greedy tells me retail is slow to reprice. I'm not touching BTC here.

I'm holding my XLE position through power hour with a stop below $94.00. Gold and silver getting hit alongside equities is a red flag — that's not a flight-to-safety tape, that's a liquidity squeeze. No adds on bullion today. Day trade sizing stays at half until SPX shows me whether $7,550 holds or breaks in the last hour.
