Energy and Utilities Carrying the Tape While Health Gets Wrecked
SPX is red but the rotation story is real — energy +1% and utilities +1.09% are doing the heavy lifting. Health is getting destroyed at -2.48% and finance isn't far behind.
Live tape — what this brief is about
Morning session is showing a clear rotation playbook, not a broad selloff. SPX is down -0.37% but the internals are more interesting than the headline number.
On my radar
- EAF $7.39 +19.27%, RVOL 1.8x, float 26.1M. Not chasing this at open range highs — I want a flag formation and a retest of $6.90 before I touch it.
- ATRA $11.10 +13.73%, RVOL 1.5x, float 9.0M. Catalyst + tight float is the right combo but RVOL under 2x midday tells me conviction is fading. $10.50 holds or I'm out.
- DYN $20.62 -15.07%, RVOL 5.2x. This is the most interesting short setup on the board. High RVOL on the red side with a catalyst flag means real sellers, not just tape noise. I'm watching $21.25 as the line — any failed bounce there is a short entry with a stop at $22.00.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,650 is my next line of concern — lose that and I think we see $7,600 before power hour ends.
- Gold $4,400 is the real test. Down -0.78% today and the 10Y yield climbing to 4.79% is the headwind. That's not a coincidence.
- Health sector breakdown at -2.48% is sector-specific pain — not macro fear yet, but worth watching if it bleeds into close.
How I'm positioned
Scanner printed zero qualifiers out of 388 tickers, which tells me the tape is choppy and selective. I'm not forcing trades. Stock F&G at 42 (Fear) while crypto F&G sits at 69 (Greed) — that divergence is a flag, not a green light. Holding my crude-linked position into energy strength, tight stop below $91.50 on crude. Gold I'm sitting on hands until it either reclaims $4,460 or breaks $4,400 clean. Power hour, I'm watching DYN for the short and doing nothing else unless the tape character shifts hard.
