Dollar Slides, Gold Rips, and Materials Lead — Here's My Open
DXY is rolling over, gold is up 2% overnight, and materials are the clear sector leader. The stock Fear & Greed at 33 (Fear) while SPX holds near highs is a bullish divergence I'm not ignoring.
Live tape — what this brief is about
Dollar down nearly half a percent overnight, gold printing $4,508, crude pushing $92, and the 10Y yield actually falling to 4.766% — that's a macro setup that tells me rotation is happening in real time. SPX is holding $7,666 with a fractional gain, but the real action is under the surface: Materials up +1.69%, Comms up +1.39%, Finance up +0.80%, while Tech is flat and REITs are the lone meaningful loser at -0.70%.
On my radar
- GPRO $1.69 — up +37.4% pre-market, RVOL 3.4x, float 173M. Catalyst-driven name. I want to see it consolidate between $1.55–$1.65 in the first 15 minutes before considering a long entry. A flush below $1.50 and I'm done with it.
- DSX $3.01 — RVOL 3.3x, float 124.4M, up +9.45%. Cleaner float story than GPRO. Watching for a breakout above $3.10 with volume; below $2.80 invalidates the setup.
- PCG $13.33 — down -5.19%, RVOL 2.0x, catalyst flagged. Utility weakness in an otherwise risk-on tape stands out. Short trigger below $13.10, stop above $13.60.
Levels I care about
- SPX $7,620 is my line — that's where the last breakout base sits. Below that and I start trimming equity exposure into strength.
- Gold $4,480 is the first real support after this move. A hold there confirms the bullish trend; a break opens a retest of $4,420.
- DXY 98.80 — if it cracks that, commodity names get another leg. Materials and energy are my beneficiary plays.
- Crude $90.50 is the level I need to hold to stay long energy exposure.
How I'm positioned
Stock Fear & Greed at 33 (Fear) while SPX is near all-time highs — that divergence is exactly the kind of wall of worry that bull markets climb. I'm not chasing, but I'm not fading this tape either. Holding my gold and silver positions with no intention of trimming above $4,480. BTC at $78,368 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 65 (Greed) — that spread between the two sentiment readings is interesting; I'm holding BTC but not adding size here. For today's open, I'm watching GPRO for the first 15-minute candle before touching it, and I'll look to enter DSX long above $3.10 if volume confirms. Sizing all day trades at 75% of normal risk until I see how SPX behaves at the open.
