Crude Rips, Gold Cracks, and SST Is the Only Story Pre-Market

10Y yield pushing 4.784% is the real pressure point this morning — gold and silver are bleeding while crude leads energy to the only green sector. SST is a pre-market rocket with a 10M float and 20x RVOL.

Live tape — what this brief is about

today
Mario's take

The yield story is back in control. 10Y at 4.784% is hammering rate-sensitive sectors — utilities down -1.17%, REITs off -0.83%, and financials sliding -0.67% — while crude's +2.57% move is the lone bright spot keeping energy bid. Gold getting hit -1.57% and silver -2.12% on a DXY bounce to 99.61 is notable but not a thesis-breaker for me yet.

On my radar
  • SST $2.24RVOL 20.4x, float 10.0M, catalyst-driven. This is the cleanest setup on the board. I want to see it hold $2.00 on any pre-market flush and build a flag before the open. Above $2.35 with volume I'm in with a stop under $1.95.
  • CHA $11.63RVOL 8.1x, float 190.8M, bouncing off the 200 SMA. Bigger float means slower move, but the 200 SMA tag gives a clean technical read. Trigger is $12.00 breakout, stop $11.20.
  • PCG $13.27 — down -20% pre-market on a catalyst with RVOL 4.7x. Watching for a dead-cat bounce fade opportunity near $14.00 if it rips at open. Float unknown but utility names this size get crowded fast.
Levels I care about
  • SPX $7,686 — holding but fragile. Below $7,640 I expect a flush toward $7,590.
  • Gold $4,411 — I need it to hold $4,380 or my short-term bullion thesis takes a hit.
  • Crude $88.00 — if it clears and holds, energy stays the only sector I want long exposure to today.
  • 10Y 4.80% — if yield crosses that level intraday, defensives and tech both get hit hard.
How I'm positioned

Going into the open I'm holding my gold position but not adding here — $4,380 is my line. BTC at $77,834 with Crypto Fear & Greed at 69 (Greed) means I'm not chasing crypto today; that divergence from the broader risk-off tone makes me cautious. My existing BTC position stays, no add. On the day-trade side, SST is my primary focus — I'm sizing at 75% of normal given pre-market volatility and the fact the scanner had zero qualified names at scan time. First action today: watch SST's pre-market tape for a consolidation base above $2.10 before committing size at the open bell.
